GPI Atlantic Study

The in-depth (217-page) report "The Costs and Benefits of Gaming - A Literature Review With Emphasis on Nova Scotia" is available from the web site of GPI Atlantic. A Summary Report is also available.GPI Atlantic is a Nova Scotian research organization "committed to the development of the Genuine Progress Index (GPI) - a new measure of sustainability, wellbeing and quality of life consisting of 22 social, economic and environmental components."

Nova Scotia Releases Annual Gaming Report

The Province of Nova Scotia has released a combined 2002-03 and 2003-04 Annual Gaming Report. It appears that the "VLT wager accounted for more than half (55.3 percent) of the total wager in the province [in 2003-04], compared to 53.1 percent last year [2002-03]. The proportion of total wager earned by casinos remained flat at around 25 percent."
